The Researcher role
- You will develop, manage, or support scientific research programmesupported by external funding;
- You will support teaching and educational development, particularly in the development of our faculty's curriculum in areas related to applied Data Science;
- You will contribute to the publication of research findings in professional and scientific journals, presentations at conferences, and guest lectures in the fields of ICT, data science, and AI;
- You will contribute to the management and coordination of duties across the Research Group;
- You will liaise and cooperate with other research groups internally and externally (nationally and internationally) to develop new collaboration opportunities and jointresearch projects;
- You will coach and supervise student projects, where you endeavour to advance their technical skills. We enable and encourage students to become IT professionals who, in addition to the latest technologies, have also been exposed to societal and real-world problems. This approach opens new horizons for collaborative research projects with our stakeholders and potential partners;
- You will work on the development of AI-driven digital health platforms at scale. Your activities will include applying technologies for digital health and patient-centric population health analytics in our research portfolio.
Societal domains of interest to our Data Science Research Group include health care and social care, wellbeing, sustainability and quality of life, data-driven social innovation, and explainable and responsible AI and data/science.
What do we expect from you?
You have recently finished your PhD or MSc on a subject related to AI and Data Science. Next to this, you should also have experience with applied research as well as experience with grant applications.
Furthermore we ask:
- Demonstrable proficiency in advanced analytics and data science, supported by a track record of working with data, implementing machine learning, and/or the design of such systems. Ideally, showcase your expertise through product delivery;
- A strong research and industry profile in data science for health care, social care and wellbeing;
- Project management skills to navigate the complexities of projects with ease, collaborating effectively within a team by leveraging individual strengths, and managing relationships with internal clients Enthusiasm for the field;
- Hands-on experience with advanced analytics tools, cloud-based solutions and low-level coding in R, Python, and data modelling (structured and unstructured);
- Subject-matter expertise, particularly in digital health and population health analytics;
- Very good/Excellent English language.

- A new dynamic Data Science research group, with an ambitious programme of collaborative interdisciplinary research in Applied Data Science.

We also offer:
- A two year appointment (D4 contract voor 2 year), with a scope of 0.4 – 0.6 FTE; 16 – 24 hours per week;
- A salary between € 5.122,09 – maximum € 6.698,86 gross per month (scale 12) for a fulltime work week;
- 8% holiday allowance;
- A year-end bonus of 8.3%;
- A very generous paid leave allowance of 53 days, based on a fulltime work week (includes national holidays and some mandatory days off);
- A green travel expense scheme: if you choose public transportation, you will receive 100% reimbursement for an NS business card 2nd class in your name.
