What does the job as a Senior Practice Assistan at THUAS look like?
Here is a short introduction about your role and contribution to THUAS. You support our year coordinators and senior lecturers with administrative and practical support, including:
- Supporting administratively through setting up and maintaining Brightspace pages, assisting with scheduling, and communicating with students;
- Participating in our internal evaluation cycle, for example, arranging town halls, information sessions, and feedback sessions;
- Assisting the Year 3-4 Coordinator with the graduation; both the administration and the event itself;
- Promoting our programme through organising introductory/ marketing activities;
- Teaching courses, under the supervision of a senior lecturer, including running workshops;
- Grading, under supervision of a lecturer, student assignments.
What does your workplace look like?
The lecturing team of International Public Policy and Leadership (IPPL) is a small but very dedicated team. We are a diverse group of lecturers coming from all over the world. Together with our Dutch sister programme we are (slowly) growing in student numbers and together consist of an ambitious team of approximately 25 lecturers. We offer applied education in the field of (International) Public Administration based on 5 professional tasks (Advising, Evaluating, Advocacy, Project-Based Working and Organising and Managing) that recur in every year of our programme. Our goal is to make the world a little better by education future public management experts with an understanding of (international) social issues and the tools by which to help solve them. What do we expect from you?

In addition, we also find the following important to be a successful senior practice assistant:
- You are in possession of a diploma bachelor level in Public Administration or a related field;
- You are digitally savvy including affinity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
- You are accurate and like diving into the administrative side of work;
- You have a demonstrated affinity with higher education and the field of international public administration and public policy;
- You have experience with or an interest in (applied) research;
- You have strong intercultural, communication skills so that you can easily interact with a diversity of people and roles;
- You have excellent English communication skills, Dutch at a B2 level is a bonus.
This is what you can expect from us
We really want you to be successful as a senior practice assistant and that you enjoy yourself at THUAS. That is why we offer you:
- An employment contract for one year based on 32 hours per week;
- A salary between € 3.609,94 - € 5.377,13 based on a fulltime work week of 40 hours (scale 10);
- 8% vacation allowance;
- Guaranteed end-of-year pay of 8,3%;
- An extensive leave arrangement;
- The choice between an NS Business card (2nd class) for your commutes or a kilometer based compensation.
