What does the job involve?
As a Practice & Skills Instructor you will work collaboratively in an educational team with a focus on blended learning and innovative teaching techniques that promote active and collaborative learning. You will coach our students in small learning groups (tutor groups) in their projects and assignments. In our legal skills workshops, which focus on skills related to the competences of legal analysis, legal advice, legal representation and decision-making, you will provide hands-on assistance in the classroom. We believe that legal skills are critically important to equip our students for successful careers and we are proud of our unique and comprehensive skills curriculum. In addition, you will take up supporting roles for a particular Year 1 or Year 2 module and/or for a service team in our Programme.
What does your workplace look like?
The International and European Law Bachelor Programme of The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS) is a 4-year LL.B. programme, aimed at training students in the fields of commercial law, public international law, human rights and European law, with a strong emphasis on practical legal skills and legal technology. Main focus of the programme in the coming years is to further develop as market-oriented law programme. The Programme, which is licensed and accredited by the Dutch Government, is fast-growing with currently around 1100 students and 50 faculty members of diverse international backgrounds. About the Faculty
Based in The Hague - the Peace & Justice Capital of Europe, the Faculty of Public Management, Law & Safety provides an inspiring International learning and working environment in which students are educated to become professionals in their field. Our Faculty is one of the largest in our University, with more than 240 dedicated staff members working in education & research, supporting a growing population of more than 4000 students. The Programmes we offer in English include Public Management; International Law; and Safety & Security Management Studies. We also have Centres of Expertise at THUAS where research is carried out in the areas of Cyber Security; Global Governance; Health Innovation; Digital Operations & Finance; Global & Inclusive Learning; Governance of Urban Transitions; and Mission Zero under which, Multi-level Regulation, UN Studies in Peace & Justice and a Grip on Europe. The Faculty and Centres of Expertise are based in our main campus in The Hague at the Johanna Westerdijkplein walking distance from the city centre.
What do we expect from you?
We believe the most important thing is that you connect with the culture at THUAS and that you agree with our values, our way of working and our worldview. When reading through your resume and cover letter, we would like to see that you have:
- At least a bachelor's degree ;
- A residency permit that allows full time work in The Netherlands;
- Some experience in professional practice;
- Some experience in teaching or coaching and an open mind towards new teaching- and learning methods;
- Excellent language skills in English (basic comprehension of Dutch is welcome).

This is what you can expect from us
We really want you to be successful and that you enjoy yourself at THUAS. That is why we offer you:
- An appointment in for the period of one year for 40 hours a week (1,0 fte). Extension of the appointment depends on the organizational, educational and financial conditions;
- A salary between €3.609,94 and € 5.377,13 gross per month (scale 10) for a full working week;
- 8% vacation allowance;
- Guaranteed end-of-year pay of 8.3%;
- A green travel expense scheme: if you choose public transportation, you will receive 100% reimbursement for an NS business card 2nd class in your name.
