At The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS), the Sport Studies | International Sport Management (ISPM) programme is growing. To support this growth, we are looking for new team members to fulfill a variety of roles. For this specific vacancy, we are looking for a Lecturer with a focus on Sport and Society.
What does the job look like?
As a Lecturer for the ISPM programme you will provide education in topics such as Sport Sociology, Sport Ethics, Sport Development or Social Entrepreneurship. Besides teaching, you are also responsible for coaching graduation students, for contributing to developing education in line with the new education vision of THUAS, for coordinating student projects and for internship guidance. Together with your colleagues you will ensure that the quality of education remains at the highest level, fed by a vision developed by the team. In short, this is an opportunity for you to engage with educational excellence and inspire sport leaders of the future to make the world better through sport.

What you also need for the position:
- A minimum of 5 years experience working in the international sport industry and/or teaching international topics;
- Completed a Master's degree in Social Sciences/ Sport Management / or a related field;
- Excellent digital skills and can quickly adapt to new digital (learning) methods;
- A proficient level of English; a proficient level of Dutch or willing to learn Dutch;
- If possible but not mandatory: BKE/BDB teacher qualifications;
- Currently live in the Netherlands or are willing to relocate to The Netherlands.
This is how you will contribute:
- You will be responsible for creating learning and teaching materials;
- You will be delivering your lectures and seminars in an engaging way to students;
- You will design and deliver appropriate assessments in line with the ISPM Educational Programme Plan;
- You will be guiding students through their personal and professional development journey;
- You will engage in a selection of programme related committees such as Assessment Committee or Work Field Advisory Committee;
- You will engage in other activities such as team meetings, development days and Open Days.

What do we offer?
- An appointment as soon as possible in a temporary post for the period of one year (0,8 FTE – 1,0 FTE) with an option for extension (D4) in salary scale 11;
- If you have a permanent contract at THUAS, we will take your current terms of employment into account. Internal candidates will be given priority over external ones;
- A salary of a minimum of € 4.535,76 and maximum of € 6.359,47 for a full working week, excluding 8% vacation allowance. (Our terms of employment are in accordance with the cao-hbo);
- A guaranteed end-of-year pay of 8.3%;
- A green travel expense scheme: if you choose public transportation, you will receive 100% reimbursement for an NS business card 2nd class in your name.

The ISPM programme is a three year Bachelor degree programme and was established in 2017. Our growing programme has an international student population with over 30 different nationalities. Our current first year cohort consists of 130 students. The delivery of the content, together with the international staff (current staff members from Finland, Brazil, Germany, UK, USA, Austria, Türkiye, Greece and The Netherlands) and student population, embodies the international dimensions of the programme. Classes are taught in a hybrid structure: both online and on campus. On campus classes are offered in the state-of-the-art Sport Campus Zuiderpark in The Hague.
The Faculty of Health, Nutrition & Sports aims to connect education and research to societal needs on local, national and international levels. Our faculty combines seven programmes: Nutrition & Dietetics, Skin Therapy, Nursing, Physical Education, Human Movement Technology, Sport Studies (Dutch track) and Sport Studies | International Sport Management. All programmes educate a new generation of health, nutrition and sports professionals.
