As a lecturer in Project Logistics (0.4 FTE), you will inspire, teach and support students in their development. You bring knowledge and experience in project management, event organisation, and customer journey design – combined with genuine enthusiasm for the field. You are ambitious and keen to learn and develop alongside students and through projects assigned by the industry. Are you ready to join our community near the city centre of Breda?

About this job
As a lecturer in Project Logistics (0.4FTE), you will guide students in their development. You will also be involved in developing the curriculum within the Academy for Built Environment & Logistics (ABEL) at Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas). You are familiar with the latest developments in logistics, leisure and events, as well as the challenges facing the industry and its companies. You can use this knowledge to provide inspiring education for our students, playing an important role in the further development of our Project Logistics study pathway. In addition, you will supervise students during their work placements or graduation projects and encourage students to consider the options available to them during their studies and after graduation.

In our educational vision, collaborative learning takes centre stage. Rather than traditional lectures, we prioritise continuous interaction with students – and whenever possible, with industry partners as well. Our students work on different types of challenges in small-scale learning communities. As a lecturer, you will play a key role in connecting these challenges, students, industry, and professional practice to create meaningful learning experiences. You are not expected to have all the answers, but to guide students in discovering them. In this role, you will also be learning something new every day.

At BUas, we operate on a team-based working principle where responsibilities and authority are assigned to the teams within the academy. This approach leaves plenty of room for your own input and for you to help shape the future of education. Are you ready to create meaningful experiences?

What do we offer?
  • The salary for this position amounts to a monthly minimum of €4,535.76 and a monthly maximum of €6,359.47 (gross amounts based on full-time employment);
  • This position is classified in scale 11 of the cao-hbo (collective labour agreement). Your official job title will be Lecturer;
  • This position involves a one-year employment contract as part of our Vitalogs project;
  • Your commuting expenses will be fully reimbursed when you travel by public transport;
  • You will receive a contribution towards your health insurance costs;
  • You will receive an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% in December and an annual holiday allowance of 8% in May;
  • You will also be awarded professional development hours every year and almost 11 weeks of holiday entitlements in a full-time position;
  • You have the option to work partly from home, which can help improve your work-life balance;
  • You will build an attractive pension through the ABP pension fund;
  • Working at BUas means always striving for ‘the plus’. BUas aims to be more than just a university of applied sciences, continuously focusing on development and creating meaningful experiences;
  • You will be working in a close-knit team of lecturers with knowledge and experience of logistics and supply chain management;
  • Lines of communication within our academy are short and staff are easily contactable. At the Academy for Built Environment & Logistics (ABEL), we work and learn in close cooperation, whether you are a student, lecturer, or manager;
  • Working at ABEL also provides exposure to other interesting knowledge areas within Built Environment and Logistics;
  • You will be working at our modern, sustainable and high-tech campus within a vibrant, creative and dynamic environment near the city centre of Breda.

What do we ask of you?
  • You have an academic level of professional and intellectual ability, as well as a relevant master’s degree, or you are willing to obtain one;
  • You ideally have experience in the field of logistics, operational processes, or the leisure and events industry (crowd management, mobility, safety);
  • You are passionate about the field and you would like to share this passion with our students and colleagues. You have creative and fresh ideas on how to share your information and knowledge;
  • You have teaching experience within higher education or are willing to obtain a teaching certificate;
  • You will be working in an international and intercultural setting. Therefore, having excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Dutch is a necessity.
