The Creative Business (CB) programme is a four-year bachelor’s degree that prepares students for positions in the media and entertainment industries. Proficiency in English is necessary to operate in these industries successfully and the curriculum offers a first-year module of 3 ECTS called English for the Media. The module teaches students to write and speak English professionally at CEF level B1 going on to B2. Students attend taught sessions, consultancy sessions and follow online lectures and submit a written and spoken assignment for assessment. Sessions are pre-designed and are scheduled twice a week for four weeks starting 15 April 2019. The work in subsequent weeks consists of marking and resits. Due to a large number of unstaffed groups we are looking for freelance English teachers who can be present twice a week and teach and assess two or three classes of approximately 30 students each.
Range of tasks:
- teach classes of theory and practice;
- conduct consultancy sessions in small groups giving individual feedback and encouraging students to perform well;
- assess whether students have achieved the learning goals using rubrics;
- process marks and assessment forms as part of an online learning platform, including the resits.
