Studio tutor MA Artistic Research (0,12 fte)
You should have a research-based artistic practice, and experience of teaching at master level. You should also be able to demonstrate knowledge of the field of contemporary artistic practice. We are looking for an artist with an open and supportive attitude towards both experimenting and material density. The department functions entirely in English, and you should have excellent English language skills. This position is not open to curators or writers. Although this is a short term position, we offer the possibility to be introduced to the academy community and to gain useful experience.
The Royal Academy of Art, The Hague educates students to become independent and self-aware artists and designers with investigative mindsets and unique visual and conceptual abilities.The Academy offers a School for Young Talent, preparatory courses, seven bachelor and six master programmes, a double degree programme, PhD trajectories in collaboration with Leiden University, and a partnership with the Royal Conservatoire.
The Master Artistic Research is an intensive two-year study that attracts highly motivated artists with a specific interest in pursuing a research trajectory within their practice. The department is small, with around 10 students in each year. We are currently looking for an artist to lead year 2 studio practice.
Key responsibilities of this position are:
Studio tutor: to support students in the development of their ideas, and the realisation of these as artistic practice. To be questioning, discursive, informative, and above all supportive. You will plan studio visit days with the head for the year ahead, and these will take place in the studios and teaching rooms of the school.
You will lead students through the development of their final exam projects.
Assessments: as one of the core teaching team you will be an active participant in all student reviews and assessments, and have responsibility for points allocation and for writing reports on each student.
Staff meetings: in addition to the above teaching role, you will also attend staff meetings.
