What will you be doing?
As a Computer Vision & Data Science researcher, you will work on various projects. These projects cover the following fields: Computer Vision, Data Science, Hyperspectral Imaging, Deep Learning, Sensor Fusion and UAVs (drones). You should be able to demonstrate your prior experience in project-based work and enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary environment comprising lecturers, specialists, companies and students. You will collaborate with your immediate colleagues to successfully complete the projects.
As a researcher, you will also actively contribute to the development of the HBO Master Computer Vision & Data Science study programme. As part of the development team, you will share your expertise in this field and will help to develop teaching materials. After the initial phase, you will be one of the teachers in this programme.

Where will you be working?
You will be working in the Centre of Expertise in Computer Vision and Data Science lab. This lab is known for its broad collection of cameras, lenses and lighting equipment. By joining the research group, you will be performing applied research in Computer Vision and Data Science methods and their applications. You will have access to the latest computing facilities such as the Deep Frisian supercomputer.
Within the research group professors (of applied sciences) collaborate with researchers, students and partner organisations to solve real-world image analysis problems. In this way you will contribute strengthening NHL Stendens educational programmes and to the growth of the region.
- A master’s degree in the field of Computer Vision or Data Science, preferably a PhD
- < >emonstrable work experience and a passion for Computer Vision, Data Science and Deep Learning
- Knowledge and skills in the area of research methods
- A teaching qualification or a willingness to attain it
- The curiosity to keep learning
- Independent, enthusiastic and result-driven
- Open way of communicating
- Excellent written English communication skills

The salary is based on age and experience, to a maximum €5.564,23 (scale 10 to 12, Collective Labour Agreement for higher education) gross per month for a full-time position, excluding 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus. The contract will initially be for a period of 1 year.
