Functie-inhoud

Within the Urban Technology research programme of the AUAS, the research group Energy and Innovation has built up strong expertise in the field of electric mobility and related charging infrastructure. This PhD position will be part of a recently awarded four year project proposal called ‘Future Charging’, which focuses on understanding future charging needs in light of the fast-growing pool of electric vehicles in the Netherlands. The project is a follow-up of the completed IDOlaad project (www.idolaad.nl). Future Charging distinguishes itself by focusing more on simulations, assessing impact of charging on energy networks, and targeting specific target groups (including charging infrastructure for taxis and sharing schemes). You will be involved in setting up and carrying out doctoral research, which will lead to a dissertation and a doctoral degree. As a PhD researcher you are responsible for translating questions from practitioners to academic research. In practice you will be responsible for further developing an state-of-the-art (agent-based) simulation model, to include more target groups, more types of charging solutions and to run a set of simulation studies to explore future growth scenarios and impacts for municipalities and companies in the sector. You will select and incorporate relevant scientific disciplines to the project, and present your work in academic and professional fora and disseminate knowledge to professionals in the field by means of, for example, reports and blogs. Additionally, you will supervise student internships/graduation projects. Alongside your work, you will take part in postgraduate education in the context of the doctoral education program at Delft University of Technology. The desired start date for the candidate is 1 November 2019.Within this project we work together with the Delft University of Technology, which will provide the promotor for this project. Professor Robert van den Hoed (AUAS) will act as co-promotor.
