Functie-inhoudWe are looking for an enthusiastic candidate for a lecturer position, having a background in regional development economics with links to rural development studies and/or environmental studies. Especially candidates with a background in rural non-farm economy, rural change, rural livelihoods diversification, circular economics and rural development policies (at multilateral level) will be considered. You have a passion for international development work and an ambition to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and environmental justice.You contribute to both the Bachelors and Masters programme with an emphasis on the specialisation Rural Development and Innovation. Your responsibilities include teaching courses at undergraduate and graduate level (BSc and MSc) for development studies. Brining the current topics of the development sector to life for students. You engage in student supervision and coaching and development of competence-based curricula using practical experience-based learning. You contribute to international education projects and applied research groups.

AfdelingThe Development Studies consist of a Bachelors (BSc) programme: International Development Management (IDM) and a Masters (MSc) programme: Management of Development (MOD).The Bachelors programme has three specialisations: Disaster Risk Management, Rural Development & Innovation, and Sustainable Value Chains.
The BSc and MSc programmes are designed for young and mid-career development professionals. Our programmes are renowned for their international learning environment and focus on the practical application of sciences. Right from the start students are in close contact with the international development sector and start developing their professional network. The Educational programmes are competence-based. Practice-based research (including living labs) is used to complement theory classes. Our educational concepts focusses on linking theory to the practicalities of the development work field. The link to the woeer development professionals. Our programmes are renowned for their international learning environment and focus on the practical application of sciences. Right from the start students are in close contact with the international development sector and start developing their professional network. The Educational programmes are competence-based. Practice-based research (including living labs) is used to complement theory classes. Our educational concepts focusses on linking theory to the practicalities of the development work field. The link to the work field provides real-life experiences for our students and lecturers.
- MSc/MA or PhD in Regional Development Economics, Environmental Sciences or similar qualifications.
- Three to five years of relevant work experience in international context
- Experience with both qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Didactical skills or experience with education and willingness to obtain the didactical qualification certificate;
- Relevant and up-to-date network related to multilateral agencies including UN and EU;
- Experience with social return on investment, project acquisition related to multilateral agencies is a plus;
- Good communication skills and outstanding command of the English language;

ArbeidsvoorwaardenWe offer a challenging job opportunity in the field of rural development and innovation. The DS team, consisting of 15 colleagues, has a wide range of skills and expertise related to International Development.Initially a temporary contract of one year for 0,8 fte will be offered. The salary (depending on education and experience) is a minimum of € 2.769,32 and a maximum of € 4.892,31 gross per month for a fulltime position (in accordance with the Hay job profile Docent 2 or 1, scale 10 or 11 CAO HBO).
Starting date: December 2019.
