As junior researcher at the Architecture in Health research group, you contribute to writing research proposals and executing assignments in the field of building for a smart and healthy living environment. You are jointly responsible for the research proposals, for qualitative and quantitative data analysis, for written communication, progress reports and monitoring of the budget. You prepare research projects and supervise them. You have the ambition to do PhD research at the HAN under the applicable conditions.
You work in a multidisciplinary team of specialists, in which you act as a point of contact for the clients, users and the students from the start to the completion of the research. You present the results to experts and students. To guarantee the quality of the process, you execute periodic evaluations and report to your supervisor.
Can smart living environments answer the challenges of our ageing society? This is the focus of the multidisciplinary Architecture in Health research group! Does this theme inspire you to do research that will translate into a PhD research proposal?
We approach this problem by developing knowledge and applying this knowledge in practice with the aim of contributing to solutions for this challenge. Smart design and technological solutions are two important starting points.
The HAN University of Applied Sciences (HAN) focuses on students, companies and institutions in the middle and east of the Netherlands and the neighbouring border region in Germany. For them, we provide various forms of higher professional education: from four-year full-time programs to short-term workshops for highly qualified professionals and many forms in between. The Faculty of Engineering provides the technical training of the HAN.
You have a master degree (academic thinking level) and you have affinity with building for health care and a smart living environments. You have experience with research, guiding students, publishing results and project-based working. You take initiative, have a proactive attitude and are able to translate ideas into concrete research proposals, teaching assignments, products and publications. Subsequently, you are able to realize these objectives. You are meticulous and have good analytical and communication skills with a customer-oriented attitude. You have a good oral and written command of both the Dutch and English language.

The appointment is for one year; the contract will be extended in case of a PhD research. You are appointed as ‘Onderzoeker 4’. Depending on your experience, the gross monthly salary amounts a maximum of € 4,192,37 (CAO-HBO scale 10) based on a full-time appointment. The salary does not include 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus. Additionally, HAN offers good pension, medical expenses, training facilities, mobility and paid parental leave benefits.
