Lots of high-level experience in the hospitality industry and time for a career change? Go into education! Share your passion and experience as an instructor at our in-house training company Sibelicious at the Academy for Hotel & Facility Management (AHF) of Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas). You will instruct and coach first-year and second-year students and help them create meaningful learning experiences. No better place to do all this than on our green, sustainable campus and at our specialist, small-scale institute near the city centre of Breda.

About this job
You will work as a Hospitality Service Instructor at the Academy for Hotel & Facility Management (AHF) of Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas). Through our in-house training company Sibelicious, we provide learning experiences to educate the next generation of professionals in hospitality. Sibelicious is a company where guests can enjoy tasteful food at a reasonable price while students practise their hospitality skills. The restaurant is accommodated in a historic building on the campus of BUas. Students get training in several outlets such as the visitor centre, food courts, kitchen, and restaurant. With your high-level experience in the hospitality industry, you are able to draw on your experience and contribute to their education. Every week you will meet a new group of students who you will be instructing, coaching and monitoring in service techniques, correct presentation, hospitable behaviour and the working of equipment and cash registers by giving feedback to students at all times. You will be responsible for the daily operations within all of the outlets. This means assigning, initiating and coordinating duties and activities of students and student managers and correct them if necessary. At the end of the shift, you will ensure a proper closure and daily revenue reporting, oversee stocking of supplies, beverages, and general products and the availability of learning materials. You will control all functionalities, coordinate the daily student instruction sessions and the overall cleanliness of the outlets. When necessary, you will assist your colleagues and take over operational tasks when there are no students available. You are also actively involved in student evaluations. You will work in a team of nine instructors and will have department-related meetings. All daily communication at Sibelicious is in English.

What do we offer?

  • The salary for this position amounts to a monthly minimum of € 3,184.53 and a maximum of € 4,208.14 (gross amounts based on full-time employment);  
  • This position is valued at level 8 of the CAO-HBO (collective labour agreement). Your official job title will be that of instructor;  
  • This position involves a one-year employment contract with the possibility of conversion into an indefinite employment contract;   
  • Your commuting expenses will be fully reimbursed when you travel by public transport; 
  • You will receive compensation for health insurance; 
  • You will receive an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and an 8% holiday allowance in May;  
  • You will also be awarded professional development hours every year and almost eleven weeks of holiday entitlements in a full-time position; 
  • You will be working on a green, sustainable campus near the city centre of Breda. The in-house training company Sibelicious is located in a historic building fitted with a new kitchen and state-of-the art equipment;  
  • You get the chance to work with enthusiastic adolescents who are eager to learn about the hospitality industry, and enjoy learning on the job.  

What do we ask of you?

  • You are every inch a host/hostess and you are able to convey this passion to students; 
  • You are enthusiastic and empathetic;  
  • You have general knowledge and skills of the restaurant, hotel and catering industry. Experience in a professional kitchen is preferred;  
  • You have good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, enabling you to instruct students and provide motivational coaching and constructive feedback; 
  • You do not mind working in other outlets when necessary, and are able to work during the day and evenings (2.00 p.m.–10.00 p.m.);  
  • You will be working in an international and intercultural setting. Therefore, having excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Dutch is a necessity. You are familiar with English professional terminology in the field of hospitality in general and food & beverage in particular;
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have international work experience and affinity with working in an international or intercultural setting.
