Functie-inhoud
COMMA (Co-creation of Movement Master of Arts in Choreography) is a joint master degree in Choreography offered by Codarts University for the Arts in Rotterdam and Fontys Academy of the Arts in Tilburg.COMMA is a JOINT DEGREE that aims to bring together the expertise, knowledge, staff and facilities from both institutions for higher education in the arts. The underlying principle behind this idea is that by sharing resources and offering an advanced professional program at a master's level, the student will benefit from the combined strengths of Codarts and Fontys. Those strengths include Circus and Performance Arts, Professional Dance (company, freelance, production house, and musical theatre), Amateur Dance, Community Arts, and Arts Education (dance). The COMMA programme is firmly rooted in the expertise and knowledge of the creator, artistic research, and co-creation. It emphasizes the importance of diversity and the development of a learning community while valuing craftsmanship, transforming experiences, generating alternatives, and providing time and space for creative processes. These values have informed the curriculum, the selection of lecturers and staff, and ultimately the students.
This degree helps students become reflective creators, able to integrate knowledge and skills fundamental to both practice and theory relating to and extending beyond dance, circus, and community arts. Our in-house and international staff encourage students to challenge their existing beliefs and expand their knowledge. As a result, students learn to critically reflect on their experiences, merging their inherent strengths and qualities with new ideas and perspectives. This approach ensures they receive a rich educational experience.
