Onze organisatie:
The Willem de Kooning Academy (WdKA), part of Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences (RUAS), is a leading international academy for bachelor and master programs in media, art, design, leisure and art education.

WdKA's mission and vision are to develop new ideas about the relevance of the artist, educator, producer or designer and to help students become the artistic professionals who will respond to tomorrow's world with critical vision, energy and care. Our education is distinguished by three pillars: majors, practices and unique stations, focused on research through making. This encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and gives our students the opportunity to become proficient in both their profession and the context in which they will work. With approximately 400 colleagues, WdKA educates more than 2,500 students.

The Stations
The stations are centres of knowledge and expertise. They are both physical and non-physical locations that cover both traditional as well as innovative technologies. The stations are at the vanguard of the developments within the professional field and the processes of production that are relevant for the art and design practice. Stations are not only a space of execution and production, but also a space in which tutors, instructors and students question why we make, how we make and for whom we make. Stations are part of a collaborative effort (an educational instrument) to develop a student-driven curriculum that supports self-directed learning.

About the Publication Station
Publishing is the act of making content public. At The Publication Station, we provide support, facilities, and technologies to help students make their stories and information accessible to all. We assist with every step of the publishing process, from using the best techniques to produce content to selecting suitable technologies and platforms for presentation.

Integral to our academic program, The Publication Station offers in-depth, skills-based educational programs and supports student projects with expertise in publishing processes, design, prototyping, production, and research. Our highly specialized team is knowledgeable in three key areas: Printmaking studio, Print studio and Design studio. These workshops foster a broad range of expertise, encouraging the integration of physical and digital media.

The Publication Station stands out by emphasizing research through making and practical applications, combining traditional print techniques with digitalization and sustainability. We focus on innovations in hybrid publications, blending classic print methods with modern technologies. Our team of instructors and teachers, helps students develop their ideas into working projects through individual consultations, station skills, and lessons. Current skills related courses include printmaking techniques and digital publishing, such as screen print, letterpress, etching, riso print, typography, web platforms, HTML/CSS, after effects and many more.
